A Year of Innovation and Impact: Health Tech Hub Celebrates 2025 Milestones

The year in review: $5M raised,12 new residents, and 5 spinouts graduated from our Stride Program!

Growth that strengthens Australia’s Health innovation

As the year draws to a close, we are proud to reflect on the significant impact made by our residents, program participants, and the entire health tech community at the Cicada Innovations Health Tech Hub.

In 2025:
  • HTH residents raised $5 million in private capital and grants.
  • More than 45 consultations were conducted with Westmead clinicians from our health tech ecosystem.
  • Over 600 people joined our HTH events and programs in 2025 — That’s enough people to fit into an Airbus A380!

We welcomed new healthtech innovators

The heart of the Health Tech Hub is its community, and this year we had the privilege of welcoming 12 new residents and community members, joining an already vibrant group of innovators.

We extend a warm welcome to:

In addition to our new cohort, we celebrated the ongoing contributions of our 18 HTH residents, shoutout to iiShield, Hi-fi Orthopedics, Latent Knowledge, Pentalym, Observa Care, and QA/RA Dynamics, who continue to drive innovation to solve the world's most pressing problems in the health, life sciences, and biotech sectors.

We celebrated the success of our Healthtech startups and leaders

This year, Liora Neurotech participated in Cicada x Tech23 2025, and we saw an exciting collaboration, including a co-development project between HTH’s Curezma and Equinox Medical, with both companies also being featured by the City of Parramatta.

We also saw 5 spinouts graduate from our Healthtech Hub Stride Advanced Accelerator - Cicada’s flagship program that helps founders accelerate product development, sharpen their commercial strategy, and build the leadership capability needed to scale globally. These graduates included:

Our graduates were supported and mentored over the past 6 months on key challenges impacting their start-up journey. With thanks to their coaches, Rob McInnes, Nicholette Conway (Axis Health Co.), Marty Hayes (Axis Health Co.), Gavin Enfield (Deloitte), Margaret Loi (Deloitte), Alex Perieteanu (CellCarta), we are delighted to celebrate their completion of the course as part of the 2025 Innovate Western Sydney. Co-hosted by USYD, NSW Health and Cicada Innovations, it was a fabulous occasion to showcase our hardworking teams’  breakthrough technology in cell & gene therapy, pharmacogenomics and cardioarrhythmia treatment alongside our fantastic Hub resident companies here at the Western Sydney Health Precinct.

This year, we also welcomed influential precinct leaders to our Hub, such as Professor Peter Hockey and Dr Adi Vyas, for invaluable insights. We also co-hosted key networking events with esteemed partners, including Microsoft, Viral Vector Manufacturing Facility (VVMF), WSLHD,  and Nucleate. Resident-led sessions with Baymatob, NeedleCalm, and Australis Scientific fostered a robust environment for peer-to-peer learning.

Hub personnel also lent their support and participation to Westmead Precinct and Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) events this year, including Westmead Hospital Week, the Harvard Hackathon, REN and TRG Grant Presentations, and Innovate Western Sydney.

Thank you

To our founders, residents, program participants, alumni, partners, mentors, and staff — thank you for making 2025 such a memorable and impactful year.

None of this success would have been possible without the hard work of the Health Tech Hub team, led by Group Executive Katja Beitat, General Manager Lilly Bojarski, Program Manager Angelica Lau, and our newly welcomed Community Coordinator Sam Sincich. Thank you for your dedication!

We are also deeply grateful to our partners, the NSW Government and Brandon Capital, whose support has been instrumental in platforming health innovation.

Finally, the success of our programs owes so much to the work of our incredible mentors and coaches. A special thank you to Brandon Capital’s representative, Prashanth Rajan, NSW Health Anne O’Neill, and all those who have supported us in one way or another.
