Introducing the 2026 Cicada x Tech23 honour roll

Australia’s deep tech pipeline is bursting with talent, ingenuity and world-class science. Today – from a record 230+ applications – we unveil the 2026 cohort for Cicada x Tech23.

Cicada x Tech23 spotlights deep tech startups from across the country that are developing sovereign capability, critical technologies and commercial-ready innovations in physical AI, health, energy, infrastructure, sustainability, advanced manufacturing and industry.

All 23 company founders from the ‘Class of 2026’ will take to the stage on Wednesday 9 September 2026 at Jones Bay Wharf, detailing how their tech can reinvigorate the way in which we live, revitalise their sectors, and solve national-scale challenges.

Cicada Innovations CEO, Liza Noonan, says that the deep tech ventures selected for this year’s event possess the prodigious ideas required to disrupt the global status quo.

"The 2026 Cicada x Tech23 cohort showcases the ingenuity, ambition and technical excellence emerging from Australia’s deep tech ecosystem,” she says.

"These companies are tackling complex problems in critical industries, drawing on Australian skills, knowledge and IP to shake up their sector. These potentially groundbreaking ventures have the potential to create new expertise, strengthen supply chains, attract investment, generate highly skilled jobs and lay the foundations for future industries.

“That’s what makes Tech23 so special. It shines a spotlight on the founders building Australia’s future, and the technologies they’re bringing to life.”
